Jennifer and David got married at the beautiful Firestone Winery this weekend. Firestone is one of my favorite places for weddings. Jennifer looked so amazing in her dress in the vineyard. We got some great portraits in the courtyard, barrel room and vineyard. With the vineyard and Santa Maria BBQ it was the best Santa Ynez wedding. 

I had such a fun time photographing Monica and Hugh for their engagement pictures. They were up for anything and suggested jumping in the ocean at the end of the shoot. In all my years doing this, I've never once had a couple want to jump in the ocean together and play around! Can you believe that?

I have known Rob since back in my hard partying high school days and I always feel so honoured when someone I know decides to hire me to capture the most important day of their life. I love my job and this day couldn't have been any better. The weather was perfect, the wedding part was a blast, the party was awesome and the couple was beautiful.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Jean and David's wedding in Merrillville, IN. I had a such a great time with them. They were both really open to doing some fun things with for their photos and willing to adventure into downtown Gary, IN for some urban shots...

Donna and David and I just barely missed the storm. We had a great time shooting into the early darkness of the evening. I love doing these sessions, because it just makes me that much more excited for the wedding day!! Enjoy!

I'm going to start out with one of my favourite images I have shot recently. This isn't your grandma's wedding picture, that's for sure. While I always try to capture some classic portraits that will stand the test of time it is nice to experiment with different shooting techniques. While this type of image won't be for everyone I think it has the look of a cd cover or some other contemporary art.

I'm spending August shooting for a small handful of bridal magazine publications. As I'm sure you can tell from my images below - I like a very unpolished look when it comes to fashion. No lights, no reflectors, no touchups...

Oh, what a wedding! Meagan and Stephen got married in Jackson Hole where Meagan grew up and it was a wedding I won't ever forget - I'm still smiling just thinking about it. :) Once upon a time I had a bit o' country in me (I took my Mom to a Garth Brooks concert in '93) and I have to say that while I was out for this wedding I felt the country rising up in me again. Exciting news! I’m super proud of Mel right now for her wins at the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International 1st half 8×10 competition. I received four Accolades of Excellence–which were completely crushed–by Mel taking 1st place in the Bride or Groom Alone category. We photographed a beautiful wedding yesterday for Bethany and Adam. Their ceremony took place at Central United Methodist Church and their reception was held at the Fayetteville Town Center on the Square. What was supposed to be a fun little stroll through rose petals ended up being a deluge of water balloons being hurled at Adam!

Breanne and Rick had their wedding ceremony at the Cinnamon Bay beach on St. John's Virgin Island and finished with their reception at The Beach Villa.

The day began perfectly…. the sky was so blue, and a light breeze keeping everyone a bit cooler. The clouds seemed to roll in just as the ceremony was ending, but those clouds held off at key times so we could take some great images! It did, however, rain during their reception… apparently the worst rain in over 30 years! But it didn’t stop their party spirit!

For our second day of shooting, we drove to Multnomah Falls and then to downtown Portland.

This past weekend's wedding was at the historic Cliff House. Since it was an Ocean themed wedding, they had a sand castle wedding cake.

What an amazing couple! Laura and John were such a joy to be around today...so happy, so in love with each other, and everyone could see they were meant to be together. We spent some time around the Charles River, since they had spent lots of dating time walking and hanging out around there :)

Vy looked absolutely stunning in her bridal shoot. Her dress is really something amazing. It’s a custom-made silk shantung gown with silk charmeuse lining, hand-sewn metallic trim, individually set metallic rhinestones, and a detachable train. 

The best part about it is Vy’s mother, Hanh Nguyen, made all of it. (It helps that Vy’s mother has been making dresses professionally for many years and she’s made dresses for Dancing with the Stars!)

Last Saturday, I found myself at the Balboa Day Club in Newport Beach, California to shoot a super fun wedding. Maria Lindsay planned all the details to perfection and made sure everything went off without a hitch.

Recently Simon and I had the oportunity to spend four days photographing Sachin and Millie's wedding and the events leading up to it. We had a great time and ate a lot of great food! Every detail of the wedding was beautiful. I absolutely loved this wedding because of the rich colors and textures, not to mention the wonderful people.

I couldn’t wait for Sarah and Will to get married. From the first time I met them, when I did their engagement shoot, I knew they had such awesome chemistry. They were so much fun and so obviously in love.

Their wedding was held at Sarah’s aunt Agnes’ home in Amelia Island, FL. Sarah told me that ever since she was a little girl she dreamed of getting married under the big oak tree in the pasture on her aunt’s property.

As promised some amazing details from Alex and Mike's wedding. No detail was left untouched! It was amazing!!!! I was soooo impressed and excited to capture all the details. Here is a picture of the kid's table. The coloring books are handmade and drawings of Alex and Mike. Just amazing!!!

The day after Amber and Tyler’s wedding, we all got up bright and early to do an Us Session before heading out of town. The mosquitos were thick and blood-thirsty but the sunrise was beautiful! It made for a perfect quiet morning on the beach…

I got to spend the day with Leslie and Toby at one of my favorite spots -- on the lake. Leslie's family own a gorgeous restored Woody and they got take it out on a "victory" lap (and I got to come too!)  I would have liked to spend the whole day on that thing...It was such a perfect day!

We had such a blast with Kathy & Dan! First off she had the most stunning gown and it just went perfectly with her personality and her little pixie haircut. Next, it really helped that the two of them were so unabashedly in love. We spent hours prior to the ceremony just going around to some of my favorite locations and snapping portraits of the two of them having fun.

Last Thursday I had the opportunity to photography the wedding of Laura and Frank in Evergreen. It was absolutely beautiful and Evergreen has to be one of the most serene places in Colorado that I've visited.

Everything about Danielle & Colin is nothing short of fabulous! So it was fitting that we connected for their engagement shoot at his mother's beautiful home in San Juan Capistrano. A little champagne, a little relaxing by the pool, and two gorgeous people madly in love. Shooting Daniel & Colin's engagement made me SUPER excited for their September wedding! I love shooting at the beautiful Westin Colonnade in Coral Gables. The light is amazing and you can do everything inside - which is very welcomed on a 95 degree July day. Their day was beautiful… filled with love, emotions, picture perfect weather, and fun guests (and bridesmaids)!

This past weekend we were in South Carolina for Amber and Tyler’s wedding. When we first met these guys, they were quick to point out that they were having a beach wedding, but they weren’t your big time “wedding-y” types and they hated the typical beach photos. That’s why I have to post this one. The groomsmen were determined that we had to do a jumping shot and I have to admit, this one is hilarious, if for no other reason than the bride got the most air. :o)

So last weekend I got to hang out with my new friends Erica and Deven in the Cayumaca Mountains and shoot their engagement pictures which was such a blast! Erica is actually a wedding photographer herself for her biz Acres of Hope Photography, and so it always adds a little extra pressure shooting for another photographer... that said, I couldn't have had more fun or felt more inspired during my time with them.

Sarah’s bridal shoot took place near Amelia Island in historic Downtown Fernandina Beach.

If Sarah’s incredible dress looks familiar it is because it is by Amsale and was in the movie 27 Dresses. Sarah actually picked out her dress before the movie came out, but the fact that it showed up in a Hollywood feature film is definitely a testament to her great taste. I even remember commenting on how cute it was when I watched the movie in the theaters. It was simple but elegant and those cute pockets were perfect for something like a handkerchief for those emotional moments.

We had a great time shooting around town and at the historic court house. Our timing was perfect, the judge saw us shooting outside and invited us to shoot on the balcony. The setting was perfect and we had our own natural wind machine!

Rachel and J.D. flew in from L.A. for their engagement photo session. Here are some faves!

We arrived last night to Maui to shoot Erin and Austin’s e-session and wedding. I say it all the time, but couples that know what they’re about always have the best weddings. That is totally the case with these two. All their choices seem to flow from who they are.

Tiffany and Ty were married this past Saturday at the Wigwam Resort in west Phoenix. Tyler is in the Air Force, so the wedding was themed with Air Force blue, hot pink, and white. Ty wore his blues for the day. Tiffany wore her hot pink shoes!

Because of the July 4th weekend, Christine and Scott decided to take advantage of the holiday weekend, and have their wedding on July 3rd, a Thursday. The wedding was at the Lake House Inn in Perkasie, PA. The night ended with a bit of a 4th of July touch - guests holding sparklers lined the walkway and Christine and Scott took off towards their hideaway inside the Lake House!

For Monica and Tim's portrait session, we went to Lambert Castle, a well-known spot here in northern New Jersey. We had barely started with the photographs outside when it started to rain, but fortunately Monica had the foresight to book time for us inside the museum at Lambert’s, where we continued with the photographs.

So I’ve been trying to do something different with dates this year. I don’t always have an opportunity to do something, but my girl Katie came up with the idea to make the date out of the bridal party. So we took the easy road and did the roman numerals. I hope that makes sense! I think it turned out pretty cool.

Maren & Clint were married yesterday in Galveston, Texas at the historic Menard House. It was the perfect setting for an absolutely beautiful occasion. Maren & Clint started dating when they were juniors in high school. They have been together through college and starting medical school, living in the same city and dating over distance too. The best man, who met Clint when they were assigned to be roommates their sophomore year of college (and Clint had a mohawk back then), gave the cutest speech telling Maren about Clint’s bedtime habits, such as how he likes to read textbooks in bed. The best part though was when he said that Clint talked to Maren every night, and nothing else made him happier than that. (Ok, I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it - it was sweet!) I wish you both nothing but the absolute best in your lifetime ahead! More photos to come in the next few weeks!

Oh I just love Courtney and Evan. They are so fun, laid back, and casual - it was totally go with the flow for their wedding day which is rare to find!

We started out with some quick getting ready and a few portraits over at the house. The ceremony site was at the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg. There was a short and sweet ceremony and then we walked from the Capitol to the Civic Club on Front Street for the reception.

They decided to have the reception outside on the lawn of the Civic Club. The weather WAS awesome and the setting along the river was really spectacular. Everyone enjoyed cocktails, a yummy meal and mingling through the evening.

So the biggest wedding day of the year was 6/7/08. It just so happens that this was one of the biggest weddings of my year. Mike and Courtney were the lucky couple that snagged me for the day. I had a great time with this group. They couldn’t wait to get married and their guests couldn’t wait to celebrate with them. No one can look at their pictures and tell me they didn’t have a great time. It’s rare that I have a crowd that wears me out….but they almost did! They would have danced all night if the band had kept playing.

I had so much fun at Lisa and Ryan's wedding. We had sand storm, wind, rain, stormy skies, and blue skies -- we had it all! Most important they had fun! It turned out beautiful!

This weddings was all about details, details and details. Heidi and Michael were married and held their reception in Heidi's parents' backyard. I have never photographed a backyard and I absolutely loved it. The environment was so cozy and relaxing.  Heidi's mom made her dress, Heidi's wedding dress, and the bridesmaids' dresses. She is so talented. I don't even know where to begin to describe all the details. The flowers provided by Kimball Floral were amazing. A path with tin buckets filed with flowers lead to the backyard. I really loved the gigantic flower balls. Guests wrote Heidi and Michael notes on flower shaped colored paper and hung on small clothes pins on the entrance gate to the backyard. Each table had jars filed with colorful candy, large pin wheels, flowers, boxes filed with popcorn, toy airplanes and fans containing the wedding party information. Hanging around the edge of the tent were candles with bright colorful ribbon. Michael created the cake topper that was placed on top of a tower of cupcakes. During the reception Jello Shot towers were passed around. The night ended with friends and family holding the biggest sparklers I have ever seen in my life. Heidi and Michael definitely did an amazing job planning their wedding.

This weekend I had so much fun down in beautiful Hamilton in the Bitteroot Valley - the setting was spectacular - the family and friends were welcoming, friendly and FUN!! Steph and I had a great day.

There seems to be a strong connection between Santa Fe, New Mexico (where I am from) and San Francisco (where I live now). Several of my couples live here in the city, but find a reason to go to the high desert to get married. For Ariel and Simon, they got married at one of my favorite outside venues, Pecos National Ruins near Santa Fe. But before the wedding, they got dressed up for portraits and so we went to some places Ariel had scouted earlier. One was even a water tower, which they both climbed up without hesitation just a couple hours before they walked down the aisle.

For Melissa's bridal session, we started out at Historic Cedarwood and then headed over to the Capitol and the Legislative Plaza.

Melissa’s dad did quite a bit of work up at the Capitol when Melissa and her sisters were kids so she has a lot of great memories of spending time there with her dad. Add to that the fact that it’s a stellar place for a shoot, and it was the perfect second location choice!

Today I decided to keep the studio closed, everyone else is not working so why should I? Instead I will be chillaxin by the pool with my wonderific wifey, maybe cleaning a bunch of crap out my very neglected garage (most likely to make room for more crap). Than I will be hitting (crashing) a few back yard suburban 4th of July parties. Happy 4th everyone….fire it up woop woop.

i am so inspired by my clients! whitney was so great at being a bride...her bridesmaids had the cutest dresses, greatest necklaces, and gave them the loveliest henry brown bags! i adored hearing her say 'i'm so lucky' when she saw the reception tent while we were walking by making portraits.

so, let me fill you in on the story - 4 friends from middle school have stayed in touch and vacationed together for 45 years...amongst those summers, 2 of the children of these friends fell in love, so it's hard to even write words to describe the deep sense of friendship and warmth present at this wedding.

What an amazing wedding location: at the Santa Lucia Preserve. It's a 20,000 acre private conservatory near Carmel, California and it was absolutely stunning. The bride got ready at a 1920's hacienda, then they got married in a giant Redwood grove and the reception took place in an old barn. The location was amazing!

I LOVED tonight.  I had a great couple to photograph and it had been FOREVER since I had photographed an engagement.

I had rain. YEAH! Something new to work with.

If it hadn't been for the speeding ticket on the way home, it would have been perfect. :)

I joined Marissa and Jeff in Chautauqua Park the night before my plane took off for California. It was a beautiful evening and reminded me of why I love Colorado and why I love doing what I do.

Brantly and Scott will be getting married on Daniel Island (Charleston) in October. They both live in New York and so we took a fun and eventful stroll around their neighborhood. We stopped at a dozen places. Shooting in NYC is so much fun, every corner something else caught our eye.
I can't wait for their wedding, a great fun loving couple!

This was the wedding where I was privileged to shoot alongside the fabulously amazing Dane Sanders. Shooting in Santa Barbara with Dane was a pivotal marker for me. And getting to work with a couple like Jen and Aaron was just the icing on the cake... they just have this breeziness about them when they are together. They are so warm, joyful, and have this deep and calm strength together. We started at El Capitan Canyon Resort, and then made our way to a gorgeous ranch for the ceremony and reception overlooking the ocean...

A couple things happened on June 21, 2008:

1. It was really hot in San Diego
2. Nikky married her best friend, Jake

Their wedding was beautifully set at the Coronado Marriott overlooking the Downtown San Diego Skyline. The heat of the day cooled into a gorgeous night where Nikki and Jake partied the night away under an almost full moon with their friends and family.

Last month Simon and I flew out to California for the wedding of Annie and Jonathan. The wedding was at the beautiful La Venta Inn in Palos Verdes. It is really a stunning place to get married. Annie and Jono and all of their friends and family were so much fun! The wedding was coordinated by Trisha Harbus of Timeless Elegance Weddings, who not only made sure the wedding ran smoothly but also took care of all of us vendors from Texas.

Location: Coney Island, Brooklyn.  Their wedding is on 08/08/08 !!!!!!!!

The other day we had a wonderful afternoon with Jessica and Aaron in Chattanooga.  We headed out on their boat to spend some time on the water. And these two...talk about planning ahead, they brought an extra boat that we could shoot from. It was fantastic!

Lindsay & Mike, who live in Boston, wanted to meet me at the Syracuse University campus for their engagement session. I was thrilled when they showed up in green, my favorite color! Lindsay and I completely agree on the attributes of this most amazing hue!

Now that the wedding day is behind us and the big reveal has occurred, you’ve really got to get an up close and personal look at Megan’s dress! The dress made it through the session without a speck, but getting this shot brought it dangerously close to some serious muddage. It’s so much fun and I’m so glad to finally get to share her bridal session with you all! Here are a few of my favorites…

The other week we went up to State College to hang out with Meredith and Mike and to have some fun playing around for an engagement session. Mike and Meredith met at Penn State, so they were anxious to get there and hit some of the spots they remember.

They actually met in a martial arts class - so they showed us some of their moves. It was quite a show!

The other day I shot a fun engagement session in Venice, CA for two very special people. I love these two so much! They are expressive and real. I can just feel the love when I'm in their presence and I am looking forward to their wedding this September.

Thursday I headed up to Santa Monica's Jonathan Club at the beach for an engagement session with James and Megan, and I had so much fun with them! It was a gorgeous location, on the beach (totally my fave!!), and with a couple that couldn't be more in love. I can't forget to mention that they are super good-looking too! :)

Last Saturday we photographed a great wedding in Kearney. Tom and Jenna wanted to get some pictures at the same pier where their favorite engagement pic was from. When we arrived at the park it turned out they were having the park's annual celebration, complete with bands and a couple moon bounce things. It didn't take Tom long to convince Jenna that it would be a lot of fun to get in and bounce around. I have to say thanks to all the kids who let us cut in front of them, only one of them was a little upset :)

When I first met Jackie and Billy this past winter, I instantly knew that their love was truly something remarkable. Yesterday we spent a couple hours on the harbor walk right around sundown and I was reminded again of how beautiful they are. I cannot wait for their celebration in August.

Wedding in Aspen  JUN 03 08

Yesterday I shot the wedding of my favorite bridesmaid of all time. She was in a wedding that I photographed back in 1999 (and then in a few other weddings over the years). I noticed her not only because she is an extremely attractive young lady, but she gave the most awesome toast ever. She had everyone cracking up, and then in tears in just a few moments time. She was smart, and kind and just seemed like a wonderful human being and I gave her my card and made her promise to call me whenever she got engaged.

Fast forward to yesterday, I found myself in Basalt Colorado (just outside of Aspen) at the Roaring Fork Club. The weather was perfect and the location was gorgeous. It was truly a fabulous wedding and I was so thankful to be a part of it. It was a crack up because people came up to me all day long telling me that the bride had been talking about me for years... "One day Becker will be shooting my wedding no matter what!".

Recently I helped out the Fabulous Greg Bumatay for Bryan and Maura's wedding at the St. Regis in Monarch Beach. It was one of the most amazing days! Last night we were up at the Mountain View Grand for Kati and EJ's amazing wedding!! It was gorgeous, sunny, and all-around perfect. We had a clear day with a GREAT view of the mountains! Kati and EJ saw each other before the ceremony for their photos (which is so wonderful). This left them time for a private dinner for two during the cocktail hour and gave them plenty of time to relax and have some quiet moments during their busy day.

What can I say about this totally rock-a-licious wedding?!?! We were really pumped up for this wedding! Especially since Angela kept telling us about all of the fun details she was going to be having. Like that fantastical color blue! Every time I looked at it during this wedding it made me think of cotton candy. The girls bouquets went with the dresses perfectly, and I just loved, loved, loved the color palette!

After the ceremony, we went to the Ephrata Cloister for some fun pix of Angela and Kurt. Next it was off to Netherlands Inn for the reception.

Fairytale Wedding in Serbia  MAY 15 08

Sabrina and Alex had a fairytale wedding. I flew to Serbia to photograph their incredible day. The wedding took place in one of the oldest churches in Serbia. Sabrina's Vera Wang gown fit her perfectly. Her Dad escorted her from their classic car to the church. The detail in the church was breathtaking.

The wedding reception took place in a Fortress. The moat surrounding it did not have water. Instead, a live lion was roaming. The reception had fairies, fire dancers, stilt walkers, Serbian dancers, fireworks and much more!
